Often I ramble aimlessly but every once in a while the stars align and I have a brilliant moment. Sarcasm and satire is the way I roll; throw in a bit of uninhibited awe and you've got your basic artsy nature freak grammar geek. And sometimes I'm a musical genius. But I don't label.

- Today I read The Nutcracker to my 2nd grade class. As I turned to the page where Godfather Drosselmeier gives the children their gifts, I pointed to the picture of Clara holding her gift and asked:
- Me: Looking at the shape of the gift (long and thin), I'm wondering what Clara could have gotten from Godfather Drosselmeier. What do you think she received, based on what you see in the picture?
- Student 1: Umm...I think maybe it's a flute!
- Me: Oh, that's a good guess, because a flute is long and skinny, just like the present.
- Student 2: It's a nutcracker!
- Me: Hmm...maybe...
- Student 3: Oh, I know! It's a sub sandwich!
